Motivation

There are a lot of wellbeing slope on the Internet. Everyone is trying to convince you that using their technique you will become 3000% more productive and will be able to perform 30 tasks per milliseconds. You are going to be the most productive person ever. No one seems to actually care about well being. Phronology does.

Backed by Science

The main driver for frustration in the modern days is a present from our ancestors. Specifically, two competing systems made for different goals: reactive system and conscious system. We will not going to dive deep in biology but instead suggest a simplifid model that may be used without special prior knowledge.

In short, reactive system is an ancient system that is fast, instinctual, seeks safely and pleasure. On the other hand, conscious system is a modern system that is slow, logical, plans in the future.

And that creates an eternal problem. You see, reactive system is ancient. It appeared long before conscious system. And it is actually still dominant, kind of. You can try to do whatever you want, but you will never be able to suppress this system. It will always win in the long run. Either by direct impulse, or by masking their desires as desires of the conscious system.

Phronology is built around this conflict. A set of specific guides is applied not to suppress the reactive system, but to understand it and synergize with it. The Phronology Manifesto explains in details the right approach to solving that problem.

Non-goals

  • This discipline is not about becoming more productive. You might even become less productive (but more happy) after introducing of that discipline to your life.

  • This discipline does not dictate any life goals to you. You decide what to fits you best. This discipline scope is only the internal conflict a.k.a. “The Dichotomy”.

  • This discipline does not require you to participate any communities including the Discord one we built. Social involvement might strengthen the effect for some people but it is completely up to you.

Social Involvement

We have a Discord Server for people who want to live more conscious and happy life. People often are more motivated to do something in a group. That is the way universities, libraries, workplaces create this special environment that is beneficial for some people.
